What Are The Steps Of Pipette Self-Test

Table of Contents

Science laboratory test tubes

If you doubt the pipette’s accuracy during use, you can check the laboratory consumables yourself according to the following tips:

One: whether the pipette leaks?

1.The self-test:

Visual inspection: after vertical suction for 15 seconds, place the pipette and observe whether there is slow dripping

Flow out. If there is an outflow, there is a leak.

Pressure pump test: use special pressure pump to test the pressure and determine whether there is air leakage.

2.Possible causes:

(1) Does the tip match? — Use original matching techniques

(2) Is the nozzle tightened when assembled?

(3) Poor air tightness of pipette?

Ii. Whether the temperature difference between liquid, pipette, nozzle and environment will affect the pipette accuracy?

If the liquid temperature of the pipette is inconsistent with that of the pipette and pipette, if the liquid temperature is higher than the pipette, the amount of pipette is too large, and if the liquid temperature is lower than the pipette, the amount of pipette is too small.

3. is there a very clear difference between the density of liquid sample and that of water?

Most pipette calibration is performed with water as the standard liquid. If the specific gravity of the liquid being operated differs greatly from that of water, the given error and error cannot be satisfied, resulting in an error. .

4. Will too fast pipetting speed lead to inaccurate pipetting amount?

Too fast pipetting speed will produce recoil and bubbles, resulting in inaccurate pipetting volume.

When the pipette is not in use for a long time, it is recommended to adjust the scale to the maximum range to restore the spring to its original state and extend the pipette service life.
