Materials & Construction
Kelabscience PCR tubes are molded from high-clarity polypropylene (PP) with tight dimensional tolerances to optimize reproducibility:
-
Thin-wall engineering promotes fast heat transfer and minimal temperature lag in fast-cycling protocols.
-
Smooth internal surfaces reduce adsorption and enhance enzyme performance.
-
Optical-grade caps (flat) ensure low autofluorescence and consistent fluorescence transmission in qPCR.
-
Even sealing pressure across the cap–rim interface helps prevent evaporation during high-temperature or long-hold steps.
-
Hinge flexibility and molding precision ensure a secure closure while maintaining ease of handling.
All tubes are DNase/RNase-free, human DNA-free, and produced in environmentally controlled facilities.
Performance Considerations
Thermal Uniformity
Fast and predictable temperature transitions are achieved through thin-wall design, ensuring reliable amplification across all tube positions, even in fast-cycling or narrow-annealing-window assays.
Cap Integrity & Evaporation Control
Flat and semi-domed caps are designed to seal evenly and maintain reaction volume. This helps reduce baseline drift and variability across technical replicates in qPCR.
Optical Performance for qPCR
White tubes and flat caps offer improved signal-to-noise ratios, enabling more accurate fluorescence measurement, especially at low nucleic acid concentrations.
Tube Geometry & Workflow Fit
-
Low-profile (0.1 mL) tubes minimize headspace and accelerate thermal response.
-
Standard (0.2 mL) tubes maximize compatibility with older or universal cyclers.
-
Strip formats support high-throughput or synchronized multi-sample workflows.
